Finally! You've found the magic piece to the puzzle to draw your prospects in and capture their attention. Perhaps you gave away a sample or shared some nugget of information that will help them transform their life. Now the trick is to convert them into a paying customer. Easier said than done?
The trick is actually in setting up the draw. When designing a lead magnet, that magic piece to draw your prospect to you, be careful not to give away your sale. If your ads aren't converting to sales, this is the first place to look.
"Peter," an entrepreneur recently shared that his paid membership site didn't go over as he had hoped. When he launched it, he offered one month of free access to prospects so they could experience membership. The problem, however, was after that first month, over 90% of them discontinued their membership and never became paying customers. Why? They saw and consumed everything they wanted and had no need to continue. Instead of being left hungry for more, the prospects were full and had no desire to purchase more!
It's important to offer value in your lead magnet, however, or you'll find you don't get any new prospects. The trick is to offer something of value that leaves your prospects wanting more. Give them a piece of the puzzle, but not the whole puzzle.
In our example above, Peter could have shared one article from his membership site, and perhaps a list of additional articles with enticing titles. By sharing one article, prospects get a flavor for the content offered, they begin to build trust with Peter as they see the value his information brings to them, and you have an opportunity to peak their interest in wanting more from you.
