We've all got a million things on our plate. If efficiencies can be found, we'll gladly take them! More often than not, we're looking to cut things from our to-do lists rather than add to it. If your website has a blog, you've likely asked yourself do I need it? And if you don't, you've likely asked yourself do I need it?
I wish there was a pat answer for everyone... but... it depends. Here are a few considerations to help you determine if your business could benefit from a blog.
Is your site short on text? Search engines love text. The more the better. And if your text is infused with key search terms, you're going to find your rankings increase significantly. Blogging is an excellent way to add keyword-rich text to your site and improve your rankings.
Is the content on your site stagnant? Search engines also love sites that are frequently updated. If you're not posting new information, you'll see your rankings fall over time. Posting new weekly articles is a great way to continually be adding new content and keeping your site fresh.
Are you viewed as an expert in your field? If not, a blog is an excellent way to position yourself as an authority figure in your industry. Be sure to keep a human element to it, though! You can share your expertise with humility and still be viewed as an expert. No one wants to work with an ego.
Is your industry rapidly changing? Blogs are a great way to communicate industry advancements, new regulations, and new theories of thought. This is information your readers will look forward to reading on a regular basis.
Blogs also offer great email content to prospects or an existing customer base, social media content, and reinforcement of current advertising campaigns.
